| Private First Class Tartar was a member of the 3rd Anti-Aircraft Artillery (Automatic Weapons) Battalion, 3rd Infantry Division. He was seriously wounded while fighting the enemy in North Korea on March 9, 1953 and died of those wounds later that day.
